Dear Govinda devi dasi,
please accept my humble obeisances,
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda!
My name is Jad, I am 23 years old and Śrīla Prabhupāda is everything I have in my miserable life.
I read your book « Prahlad » and I loved it.
I made a video on this beautiful book because it saved my life.
Here is the link of the video :
I wanted to use all the original artworks but I could not find the one where Hiranya Kashipu is covered by an anthill in good quality hahaha!
I translated all the original text in French : it is very very faithful except at the end because the text did not go well with the music I had chosen.
I hope you enjoy this video, even if it is in French!
It took me 2 months to make this movie and it was the best time of my whole life.
Do you know where I can buy this little Book ? I found it nowhere on the internet and all the devotees I know told me that they never saw this Book before, they didn't even know that it existed !
Right now I am working very hard on another video : the Bhagavad-gita As It Is, and after I complete it, I will make another video, « Dhruva », with all your beautiful artworks.
It will be exactly in the same style as my video on Prahlad Maharaj.
In your awesome Book « The Transcendental Art Master », you say that :
« This was also done under the guidance of Srila Prabhupada.
He looked at each one of my illustrations and gave his stamp of approval, and told the BBT to print this as a childrens’ book. However, it was never printed, as the project somehow got lost in the
political upheaval after Srila Prabhupada’s departure from this world. »
I found this story very sad, so I am going to make this project a reality, even if it is a video!
Thank you very much for all your beautiful drawings, I love them all.
- Your fallen servant from France,
Please accept my most humble obeiances and so much gratitude for your kind wishes and appreciation! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Yes, these paintings were done when I was first a devotee, in early 1967, and all of them were personally guided by Srila Prabhupada himself since my husband and I were then living in New York, and painting pictures every day in Prabhupada’s little living room. It was a very sweet time!
Originally, Srila Prabhupada wanted this series of paintings to be done for a childrens’ slide show, since internet as we know it today was not yet available. The London devotees did do a slide show of the story with the pictures, and it was mentioned in a newspaper article as I recall. (Back in 1969 or so)
You have done such a nice job of adding fountains of water and sparkles and all sorts of nice embellishments! Thank you so much! I would like to get this translated into English if possible. Perhaps Mondokini, who is French may be able to do it?
And certainly Russian as well. There are many children who will benefit from hearing this story of Prahlad Maharaj. So far as the book, it was printed by bbt in the late 70s, but is no longer available. I DO have one copy of it and have considered reprinting it. This is a great inspiration for me to do so. I thank you for your time and effort. Unfortunately, I do not know French, so I cannot comment on the text. But if you have carefully followed Srila Prabhupada’s Srimad Bhagavatam (original editions please) then I am sure it is perfectly executed.
Srila Prabhupada himself posed for Hiranyakasipu on his tiptoes, and for Lord Nrisinghadev—nearly every day. He was at that time speaking on the story of Prahlad Maharaj, so his lila mood was that of the roaring Lord Nrisinghdev. What a sight to behold! He would raise his hands up like claws and he would open his beautiful brown eyes very wide, and then roar like a lion! He really seemed to relish this lila mood—although I was a brand new devotee at the time, and really did not understand that this was the mood of the lila. But it was a wonderful time and brings back wonderful memories. Thank you for this!

Dear Govinda devi dasi,
Please accept my humble obeisances,
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda!
Thank you so much for your long reply!
I am so happy that you liked the video!
I can add English subtitles without any problem : that's a very good idea!
I do not know Mondokini, but I am a good friend of Kishori devi dasi who knows her very well. She told me that she would give me all the informations I need to contact her.
I would like to ask you 4 things :
1) Is there any text with Dhruva's illustrations ? Did Śrīla Prabhupāda gave you instructions/indications about this book ?
(Narada Muni is so beautiful in this illustrations, you made an amazing job! I can't take my eyes off him, and sometimes I really think that Śrīla Prabhupāda is an expansion of Narada Muni or something like that hahaha!)
Who wrote the text for Prahlad ?
2) I read many many times that Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted a big movie made on the Bhagavad-gita. Did Śrīla Prabhupāda told you anything about this ? Did he give you details about what he wanted ?
3) On this photo :
We can see Lord Nrsimhadeva on the right of Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Did you draw that painting ? If it is so then can you please send me a picture of this painting in good quality ? I really like this painting.
I am planning to make a very big website in French on Krishna Consciousness, so I need as many photos as possible!
4) When I click on « Media » on your website, I cannot see the 4 coloring Books.
I would love to see them, and more particularly « Gopal », because I really really want to see the drawing with the butterfly.
I would love to see what Śrīla Prabhupāda's favorite drawing looks like.
I love your « Vyas Puja Offering 1996 » article, and I cry every time I read it. You are a nice soul. I remember very well the day when I came across your website and your amazing book « The Transcendental Art Master ». This book truly saved my life, because at that time I was very very depressed about the fact that I would never meet Śrīla Prabhupāda, and I did not know what to do with my life... Your book and this article gave me hope and great inspiration, and I still read them many many times.
Thank you so much for being a nice soul.
I am sorry for this very long message and for all these requests.
May the shadow of the lotus Feet of the Lord protect you forever,
- Your fallen servant,
